From Isolation to Empowerment

Michael, a veteran, had spent years feeling isolated. His 20 year old mobile phone made it tough to manage everyday tasks, and with everything moving online, he felt left out and disconnected.

Then, everything changed when he received a laptop and Wi-Fi hub from furbd, through Forces Employment Charity. Suddenly, Michael was empowered to take control of his life in ways he hadn’t been able to before.

" I have been able to access Help For Heroes physical health support service which has meant I received a knee brace without a long wait with the NHS. I have been able to listen to music and read in-depth news reports giving me things to do that distract me from the pain and is helping me feel more connected."

With these simple tools, Michael’s life has transformed. What once felt like an uphill battle has now become an opportunity for connection, support, and even joy. "

“I am very grateful for furbd providing me with the IT equipment that is starting to make such a difference, thank you.”

He’s now able to connect, access the help he needs, and enjoy life in a way he hadn’t been able to for years. It’s a reminder that even small changes can have a big impact, and we’re proud to be a part of Michael’s journey toward a brighter, more connected future.

Building Connections in Hartlepool

In Hartlepool, technology is creating brighter futures thanks to a recent delivery of tablets and mobile phones to LilyAnne's Wellbeing. These devices are already making a difference as part of a community sharing initiative.

The tablets are helping people develop new skills, manage Universal Credit accounts, and stay connected with essential services and loved ones. Meanwhile, mobile phones are providing a lifeline for individuals experiencing homelessness, helping them maintain vital contacts and work toward stability.

Trevor from LilyAnne’s shared his heartfelt gratitude for the donation, highlighting the incredible impact these devices will have on their clients.

This effort shows the power of generosity and collaboration, proving that when we come together, we can bridge the digital divide and create stronger, more connected communities.

Tech Donations Transform Services

Starfish Health & Wellbeing in Stockton received all-in-one PCs from furbd, and the difference they’ve made is truly inspiring. These computers have become a vital part of the amazing work Starfish does to support their community.

The PCs are being put to great use. At their “Movie Night” support group, they help create a cozy atmosphere by powering the speakers for the projector. Volunteers from across Teesside are also using them to build their admin and health & safety skills in Starfish’s ICT suite—a safe and supportive space for learning and growing confidence.

One computer at reception has become a lifeline for visitors. It’s used to help people bid for housing, write important letters to utility companies or the NHS, and tackle everyday tasks that can feel overwhelming. As Peter from Starfish explained, the difference these devices are making is “immeasurable” for families and young people struggling with life’s challenges.

This success story highlights how your donations fuel meaningful change. By choosing furbd for IT disposal, you’re not just recycling devices—you’re empowering communities and making lives brighter in Teesside. Thank you for being part of this transformative journey!

Bringing Joy to Local Kids Through Gaming

Marske on a Mission is going the extra mile to make a difference for disadvantaged children in their community. They picked up a games console from us, and it’s already set to play a big role in their weekend and after-school clubs.

These clubs offer kids a safe, welcoming space to relax, have fun, and make memories. On those cold, rainy days when outdoor play isn’t an option, the games console will provide hours of entertainment and bring smiles to their faces. It’s more than just fun activities like this help build friendships, boost confidence, and give children a sense of belonging.

A New Start with the Gift of Technology

When families like Krystyna, Alex, and their 8-year-old son Simon arrive in Stockton, they’re often carrying little more than hope for a safer, brighter future. Fleeing the conflict in Ukraine, they began their new life with immense challenges—one of which was helping Simon adapt to a new language and school system while continuing his Ukrainian studies.

That’s where furbd stepped in. After the Stockton Borough Council Migration Support team referred the family to us, we provided Simon with a tablet. This small device has made a world of difference.

With the tablet, Simon has been able to stay connected to his Ukrainian school teacher and classmates, continue his online studies, and even work on his English skills at home. It’s helped him gain the confidence to participate at school, build friendships, and feel more at ease in his new surroundings.

For Simon, it’s not just a piece of technology—it’s a bridge between the life he left behind and the one he’s building here. For his parents, it’s a tool that’s helping their son thrive during an incredibly challenging time.

This is just one of many stories where the support of furbdit and our amazing donors has transformed lives. From staying connected with loved ones to accessing essential services and education, the technology we provide is opening doors for refugees to integrate, grow, and find their footing in a new home.

The Paediatric Diabetes Team, South Tees Hospital

“I am writing to express our deepest thanks and gratitude for your kind donation of refurbished laptops. These will be of tremendous help to our families who did not have the funds to purchase a laptop and will allow them to download the data from their child’s blood glucose meters and or insulin pumps.”
